We're excited to share highlights from a productive in-person meeting between the three co-leads of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research | Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada Catalyst Grant project on July 9th 2026 at the WA RCC Headquarters in Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria!
Dr Uche Ngwaba (Program Lead – RHGS, Toronto Metropolitan University) and Dr. Victor Igharo (Managing Partner, Sociocapital) paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Kokou ALINON (Regional Director, Africa CDC West Africa Regional Coordinating Center) and the wider Africa CDC WA RCC team, to discuss the continued growth of this vital partnership.
The discussion centered on:
✅ The strategic benefits of collaboration between Africa CDC, Sociocapital, and TMU
✅ Opportunities for capacity strengthening across all three institutions
✅ Aligning efforts to advance regional health governance systems in West Africa
This partnership was catalyzed by the CIHR Catalyst Grant, supporting research investigating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) governance in West Africa — a critical public health priority requiring strong cross-institutional governance and collaboration to drive sustainable, evidence-based solutions.
