Dr. Roojin Habibi

Assistant Professor

Dr. Roojin Habibi is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law and Research Director of Global Health Law at the Global Strategy Lab, jointly based at York University and uOttawa.

Her work bridges international law, public health, and human rights, examining how global health law and governance evolve through normative change.

A recognized global leader, she authored the 2019 Stellenbosch Consensus Statement and has contributed to WHO pandemic accord negotiations and IHR amendment reviews.

She co-led the development of the 2023 Principles and Guidelines on Human Rights and Public Health Emergencies and serves on multiple international expert panels.

A multilingual scholar and practicing lawyer, Dr. Habibi teaches public, constitutional, and global health law, holding a J.D. and Ph.D. in Law, an MSc in Global Health, and a transnational law specialization.
